We are Caregiver Saathi.

We are all experiencing the role of a caregiver in its most challenging avatar. Anyone who provides physical, emotional, financial or social care is a caregiver. Today, each one of us is a caregiver or a well-wisher of a caregiver. Navigating through this pandemic is like grappling through the dark and unknown.

As we navigate our journey through these times, we need companions, support systems and resilience. So long as we are holding hands and are supporting each other, we will get through this. It is with this spirit that Caregiver Saathi has drawn up a comprehensive Covid response for all of us who have been affected, infected or impacted by Covid.

Caregiver Saathi is an Academy for Caregivers and in our endeavor to acknowledge and support caregivers, Covid response is oriented for the varied ways in which we are impacted:

  1. Emergency & Crisis Care for the severely infected
  2. Home-based Care for the infected
  3. Recovery support for those who have been infected
  4. Precautions and opportunities for those who are concerned, but not infected
  5. Reconfiguring and Repurposing for those who are bereaved
  6. Replenishment and Well-being for the professionals in the frontline (Healthcare practitioners, aid workers, volunteers)

For each of these categories of people, our response covers learning, psycho-social support and programs for building sustainable, systemic interventions.

We are offering the following:

  1. Volunteering opportunities for all of us who wish to contribute and do our bit in order help tide over the challenges of these times. You can volunteer your time, skills and emotional support of solidarity. It will be a gift to you, as much as a gift to society.
  2. Learning programs for caregivers, well-wishers of caregivers, and those who may wish to build the competencies of providing support (emotional first-aid, mental health first-aid, support group facilitation, grief counseling, bereavement support groups). Some of these programs will be certifications as well.
  3. Community of those going through similar journeys – so that we can hold each other’s hands as we together learn, share and grow.
  4. Companionship: individualized support system for those who sign up so that you can navigate the coming days with a sense of well-being and choice.
  5. An opportunity to build a systemic response that can enable resilience and sustainable support for unforeseen upcoming challenges.
